Tell us about yourself and your company.
My name is Amanie Mokdad and I am a three-time Emmy award-winning makeup artist for fashion /film/weddings/print/and photography. I have been a professional makeup artist for the last fifteen years with a vast range of celebrity and personal clientele.
How did you get started?
I started as a production coordinator for Detroit public television and went on to establish my career in makeup artistry. While doing makeup for TV, I became a trainer for M.A.C. Cosmetics, and later a consultant for Laura Mercier and NARS.
What’s the best part about your job?
Everything! The artistry aspect is very important to me, but it’s the special connection with each client that is essential. I find whether working with a celebrity or a bride-to-be, expectations for quality work is the same.
What sets you apart from others in your industry?
My obsessive-compulsiveness for detail and desire to make every client’s experience enjoyable is very important to me. Creating an atmosphere of trust with your client is essential for any transformation to occur.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I love to paint with watercolors, shop with my three little girls, and sleep whenever I have the chance, which is rare ;) But no complaints!
